Cosmetic Technology program is a program that provides training in the field of business administration called "Cosmetic Technician". The main purpose of the program is to train intermediate staff needed especially in the cosmetics sector. Mersin University Mersin Vocational School Department of Chemistry and Chemical Processing Technologies Cosmetics Technology Program was established to educate university candidates who want to take part in different units of the cosmetic sector in a scientific environment and gain professional skills by using the advantages of distance education and training. It started to provide education in the Fall semester of 2012-2013 Academic Year.


COSMETIC TECHNICIAN


DEFINITION

It is an intermediate manpower working in the production, marketing, promotion and sales areas of cosmetic products.


TASKS

- Determines the recommended raw materials for cosmetics,

- Microbiological controls of water used in cosmetics production,,Works to produce the highest quality cosmetic products at the lowest cost,

- Monitors whether the tools and materials used in cosmetic production are measured correctly and keeps the records related to them,

- Works in the promotion, marketing and sales departments of the cosmetic product produced,

- Complies with instructions on worker health and safety, protection of the environment and hygiene in the workplace.


TOOL AND MATERIALS USED

-Ph Meter (Ph meter), viscometer (degree of liquidity, fluidity meter), TAA SLES (Product cleaning agent),

- Electronic test instruments for color, odor, appearance tests, KARL FISHER (It measures the amount of water in the product),

- Electronic scales, glass and porcelain tubes,

- Heater and coolant test furnaces,

- Acids, bases: Organic and inorganic samples (Product, chemical mixtures, etc.),

- Various forms, computer and related software.

The working environment of a cosmetic technician is laboratories and sales departments. The working environment in laboratories is noisy and smelly. Chemical substance burns and poisoning may occur if they are not careful while working. They are in communication with their colleagues in the working environment.

After graduating from this department, he works as authorized personnel in organizations such as Biochemistry laboratories, Cosmetic Industry Organizations, Cosmetic Import Export Companies, Chemical-Pharmaceutical Industry, Beauty Institutes. Employment opportunities for graduates cover a wide variety of fields. There is a chance to find a job in all enterprises of the public and private sector that produce products related to chemical processes. However, cosmetics, food and pharmaceutical industries are prominent fields of study. It is also possible for them to start a business on their own, but they may need very high capital.

Dye Technology of Vocational High Schools, Industrial Dyeing and Decoration, Industrial Dyeing, Chemistry, Tire Technology, Petrochemical, Plastic Processing, Plastic Technology, Process, Industrial Dyeing, Industrial Dyeing and Application Technique, Skin Care and Beauty, Skin Care and Hairdressing, Hairdressing / Hairdressing -The graduates of Skin Care and Epilation, Hairdressing / Hairdressing-Hair Care and Production departments can apply to the "Cosmetic Technology" associate degree program without an examination. They can be fitted if they have the required conditions. - Those who graduate / will graduate from departments or high schools other than the departments of vocational high schools designated for transition without examination, if there is a quota at the end of the placement without examination, they will be able to be placed in the open programs according to their wishes and YKS scores. For this, these persons must take the YKS exam held by the OSYM Presidency and get sufficient "Numerical (SAY)" points.

PROGRESS IN PROFESSION

Those who have successfully completed the "Cosmetic Technology" associate degree program can make a vertical transfer to one of the Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Hairdressing and Beauty Education undergraduate programs, if they are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam held by OSYM. Those who are successful in their workplaces can be department chiefs, assistant managers.


SCHOLARSHIP, CREDIT AND FEE STATUS

During their education, they can benefit from student loans and tuition loans provided by the Credit and Hostels Institution. They can receive scholarships from various institutions and organizations. If professional staff are employed in public institutions and organizations, they start working with the second grade of the 10th degree. Their salaries are determined each year according to the budget law. In the private sector, the place of work, experience, etc. earnings vary according to situations.
